The Pastor is the chairperson of the Board of Stewards and can temporarily appoint a chairperson pro-tem in his/her absence and all business conducted shall be subject to veto by the pastor.
- The Steward Board of Saint Paul AME Church attends to the Spiritual Health and Financial Health of the church. They assist The Pastor and ministerial staff in carrying out the church program that fosters and increase spiritual maturity in the body. As we carry out the great mission of the African Methodist Episcopal Church, The Steward Board is providing prayer, encouragement to the members of the church and serving as role models of excellence in being about our Father's business.

Becoming a Steward
At Saint Paul AME Church, we require the number of stewards to be no fewer than three and no more than nineteen in order to adequately oversee the needs of the church body. If you are interested in becoming a Steward, you must meet the following qualifications for Office:
- Solid piety (faithfulness, goodness)
- Know and Love the Word of God
- Know and Love the AME Doctrine
- Be fruitful and of good natural or acquired to transact the spiritual and temporal business of the church.
- An active member of the AME Church for at least two years.
Duties of The Steward
Stewards are expected to perform the following duties:
- Negotiate with the pastor the salary of a full-time pastor
- Negotiated salary and benefit package shall be commensurate with the cost of living in the area & the ability of the local congregation
- Benefits should include Pension,Retirement,,Insurance (Health, Disability and Liability)
- Negotiated salary and benefit package shall be commensurate with the cost of living in the area & the ability of the local congregation
- Seek the needy and distressed in order to relieve the comfort them
- Make accurate reports of every expenditure of money
- Attend the Quarterly Conference to give advice
- Attend Committee meetings for the disbursing of money to churches and give counsel in matters of arbitration
